Since Valentine’s Day is a few days away, I wanted to create a simple outfit that would be classic enough to wear for many other occasions, versus wearing it for one night and putting it in the back of your closet. The pieces can be paired with many other outfits so, you can get good use out of them. In addition to that, they are all super affordable, which definitely helps. My favorite piece by far is the super cute cross body with the heart metal ware. It incorporates Valentine’s Day without looking like Cupid threw up on you.
Thoughts on this outfit? Would you prefer some pink or red pieces?
Love-day is almost here! It is literally one of my most favorite times of the year. I’ve always loved it whether I was or was not in a relationship. I just love the idea of a whole day dedicated to love and pink and red and hearts and chocolate and ahhh! I know a lot of people knock it and think it’s superficial and think you should show your significant other that you love them everyday and blablaba, it is not for everyone, but it definitely is for me.
While my site is mostly dedicated to saving and being smart with your money, I feel Valentine’s day is one of the few times it’s ok to splurge. You’re buying for one other person and it comes once a year, so I feel like it is ok to go a little further than you usually would. I think the gift giving aspect is so much better than the going out part. I prefer to stay home, cook or order in and just relax. What I save there I put into a gift that will last much longer.
Now, of course, the most important thing about Valentine’s Day is the thought you put into it and it ultimately about spending it with the one you love, but seriously, gifts do make it better.
Do you all enjoy Valentine’s Day as much as I do or would you prefer it disappear?

Alright! So you’ve unwrapped your presents and the adrenaline and thrill that once filled your body is now all but gone. While you love most of the things you received, there are a few you need to exchange, return and quite honestly, just get out of your sight. Below is a quick guide for those who dare to venture into the crowds and long lines in the pursuit of getting what they really want.
1. Check the return policy: It will save you a lost of time and headache. Most stores have lenient return policies for the holiday season. The most common one allows purchases made from early November to the end of December to returned or exchanged by January 31st.
2. Go during off peak hours: I know around this time there is no such thing as an ‘off peak’ hour but there are times where you will spend less time trying to navigate through the hustle and bustle. Try and go an hour or two before the store closes or within the first couple of hours of it opening.
3. Act Fast: While some stores have a lenient policy when it comes to holiday returns, others do not. You are much more likely to get store credit or some other type of compensation if you do it within the first couple of weeks after Christmas.
4. Store Credit: If you get store credit, you can hold off to use it. Sales happen all throughout January because retailers need to get rid of the excess merchandise left over from the holiday season. This is also when they prepare their Spring inventory which comes out around early February.
5. Exchanges: If you need to exchange something, try and grab the new item you want before standing in line so that you don’t have to make two trips. It will save you and the cashier a lot of time.
Most importantly, please smile and be pleasant. Cashiers are overworked and underpaid around this time of year, leave your attitude and anger at the door.

Which travel essentials can you not do without?

Having a bad hair day is just about the worst thing that can happen to me style wise. I have naturally curly, dry, frizzy, unruly hair, so everyday is a struggle for me. However, I’ve found some great products that have been able to help me tame my mane.
1 Loreal Triple Repair Shampoo/Conditioner- I love love love this shampoo and conditioner. First step to having great hair is keeping as much as possible attached to your head. I’ve seen great results and have had significantly less fallout.
2 FX Tangle Out- Tangled hair is never a cute look, this product is amazing at detangling and a couple sprays in your hair does wonders.
3 Infusium 23 Leave In Conditioner; This is my go to leave in conditioner. Its lightweight and gives your hair all those yummy nutrients it needs.
4 Tresemme Curl Activator Spray-Although I have naturally curly hair, I usually use a curling iron to achieve the curled look–weird I know. This spray is great for keeping the curls bouncy and in place all day.
5 Frizz-Ease Finishing Creme- This is great for applying to your hair after you blow dry or flat iron it because it gives it a lot of smoothness and just the right amount of shine without making it look greasy–plus, it smells amazing!
6 Loreal Humidity Defying Leave In Creme-I can’t live without this during the hot humid months in the D.C. area. I swap out my usual infusium 23 leave in for this. Applying too many products to your hair at once makes it almost impossible to style and just weighs it down, keep that in mind when layering on products.
7 Batista Dry Shampoo- Why do I use dry shampoo when I have dry hair? For the volume! Dry shampoo gives your roots such a lift and soaks up any product that may be lingering on your hairline. The key to using this product is to brush it out really well, you do not want to look like you have baby powder on your head.
8 Loreal Total Repair Hair Mask-I’ve tried so many masks but I swear this is the best one I’ve used yet. I use it every time I shower on the ends of my hair. I also try and apply it a couple times a week a few hours before I shower, leaves my hair feeling like butter. You can also sleep with it on and just put a shower cap over it and wash it out in the morning.
9 Tresemme Keratin Heat Protectant Spray- This is a great heat protectant and shine spray in one that is best when used with straight iron for that stick straight 90′s hair look.
10 Pantene Anti-Humidity Hairspray-I use this spray all year round and I love that it’s buildable and doesn’t wight your hair down. The fact it keeps the humidity out helps too.
Have you tried any of these products?
